Although three lazy Louisiana bayous run through the heart of our city, we’re anything but lazy. Many business travelers find we are convenient to the petro-chemical refinery companies, such as Sasol North America, PPG Industries, ConocoPhillips and Citgo Petroleum. Others frequently visit aerospace businesses, such as Northrup Grumman and Aeroframe at Chennault International Airport. Still other visitors are here for the medical and healthcare community, attending McNeese State University, or zeroing in on bargain hunting at the very large shopping malls. Sam Houston Jones State Park offers a look at abundant wildlife in its natural habitat via gentle walks or serious hikes.

Lake Charles Attractions
Pleasure travelers are drawn to stroll the lakefront boardwalks, to partake in our many festivals, symphony events, museums, theater productions on the lake, and to sports events at Cowboy Stadium. Cajun food and pirate-themed fun at Contraband Days in May is a two-week annual favorite in Louisiana, with more than 200,000 attending. Since 1882, we’ve hosted our own Mardi Gras, which sees another 150,000 visitors enjoying themselves in our town. Some vacationers come to hit a few balls at Gray Plantation or Mallard Cove Golf Courses. Those wanting to delve deeper into the entertainment front will be happy to know we’re within walking distance of both L’Auberge du Lac for nightlife and casinos, and to the Prien Lac Mall. Even closer, there are about a dozen restaurants offering choices from pizza to steak and local specialties like gumbo and crawfish.
